When considering applying for a course, consider the living costs as well as the course fees required during your time here. The finance overview will help you calculate your costs.
Sources of funding
There are many funding opportunities at Cambridge from a wide variety of sources including the Cambridge Trust, Gates Cambridge, Colleges, Research Councils and central University funds. Eligibility for the funds can be based on what course you are studying, your country of origin, or other criteria.

African Bursary
The Centre of Development Studies offers a scholarship for applicants whose primary citizenship is sub-Saharan African. Each year, two full bursaries covering fees and maintenance are awarded to two top ranking Development Studies MPhil applicants from one of the sub-Saharan African countries. All applicants with African citizenship are automatically considered for this award upon submitting a completed application by the application deadline. Members of the Admissions Committee carry out interviews with selected potential recipients in May or June. Receipt of the bursary is dependent upon the candidate meeting any outstanding conditions on their offer of admission and taking their place on the course.
Please note there is another programme that has been established to provide talented students from economically marginalised and hard-to-reach communities in Africa with fully-funded opportunities to complete their Master’s training, grow in transformative leadership, and contribute to climate resilience and sustainability in Africa.
