Chee Yong cares deeply about development issues that concern his country, Malaysia. He hopes to explore multidimensional structural inequalities that have been long in existence in both West and East Malaysia since the British rule through his PhD research.
Chee Yong used to serve as a Perdana Fellow to a Cabinet Minister in 2018. He holds a BA in International Relations from King's College London and a MPhil in Sociology from St. Catharine's College, University of Cambridge.
