The Centre of Development Studies is happy to announce that Dr Ilias Alami has won 2025's International Political Economy Working Group Book Prize for his co-authored work The Spectre of State Capitalism. Praising Dr Alami and Professor Adam D. Dixon's work, the prize committee stated 'this is an agenda-setting book across a number of fields, including the rise of China, development and the future of the developmental state, the evolution of neoliberalism and beyond.'
The International Political Economy Working Group is part of the British International Studies Association. This organisation awards prizes to recognise excellence and achievement through research and teaching in the field of International Studies.
