Biography:

Dr. Riall Nolan is a Professor of Anthropology at Purdue University, and a specialist in international development. He has lived and worked in a variety of countries in Africa, Asia and the Southwest Pacific. He has also done work in the former Soviet Union. His current interests center around two things: how anthropology can be used in the planning and implementation of directed change, and how anthropology itself is changing in response to both internal and external circumstances. His most recent books include the Handbook of Practicing Anthropology (2013) from Blackwell, Internationalizing Higher Education (2016) from Harvard Education Press, and Using Anthropology in the World (2017) from Routledge. He holds a DPhil (1975) in Social Anthropology from the University of Sussex.
