Migration and development, internal migration and rural change, social and human development in Asia, comparative India-China studies, youth unemployment, ethnographic work and contemporary village studies. Research methods: mixed methods and innovate qualitative (arts-based) methods. Regional interests: Himalayas, North India, Southwest China.
